<a href="http://searchengineland.com/use-simple-math-show-potential-clients-seo-important-204902">Simple Math To Show Potential Clients Why Local SEO Is Important</a>

With some simple back-of-the-napkin math, you can quickly demonstrate the importance of Local SEO to potential clients.

If you provide Local SEO to small businesses, many times you?ll find yourself trying to explain exactly why your services are important.

Many small business owners don?t understand why their website doesn?t show up at the top of Google search results, and as soon as you start explaining algorithms, keywords and links, their eyes glaze over.

Head over to read the rest. Nice simple concept. Thanks Greg!

I bolded that last paragraph cuz it's so true.

OK fess up! How many here have made a prospect's eyes glaze over???

Bamboozle them with your brilliance? Wow them with your knowledge of the algo?

Sometimes simple is better!

If you are new here, you know I often use a really good puzzle analogy to illustrate who gets to rank on top in a particular market.

Here it is, illustrated and with lots of wording you can use.

In fact I think Greg's concept and mine would play nicely together.

What do you think???

My approach with small, local business owners is to ask them how they normally find local information on Google and confirm that most people search in just the same way :)

I also educate them on how to change search settings for "search history", "location" and "incognito browsing" so they understand how Google alters results pages.

The more I help them "get it" (in the most basic, simple ways) the more they understand the value of what I can bring to their business by helping their website be found when people search just like them.

This approach almost never gets objections as they're using themselves as an example ;)

Great points all. Thanks Tony!
