Is it possible to check if a site has geo sitemap? For normal sitemaps it's quite easy but what about geo sitemaps?

Ya I was going to post they are not supported now.

It is only the "geo" tags which Google does not support.

One can still submit a sitemap referencing to a KML page, just have to erase the "geo" tags from it and webmaster tools will accept it with no problem or error.

Hope this helps.

As someone already pointed out, Google does indeed support Geositemaps. I use them all the time. You just have to delete the GEO tags within the xml.

Geositemaps should be in the same directory as the XML sitemap (which is usually the root directory). So if the sitemap is: http://www.mysite.com/sitemap.xml, then the geositemap will be: http://www.mysite.com/geositemap.xml.

Just type in the geositemap url into Google and if one exists, you'll get an xml file pointing to a KML locations file.
