Hello!

In the past, we could create "Smart Campaigns" directly from the GBP dashboard and choose to advertise only the GBP optimized for ads. You can see this in the screenshot I attached.

From what I know, Google has discontinued this type of campaign, and I am looking for something similar that will display ads exclusively in search results or on Maps.

I don’t want to use Performance Max. My goal is for Google to show only the GBP, even without showing my website.

Is there any type of campaign that can achieve this now?

Hey Omer,

Yes, you can still accomplish that via Google Ads. As for the without a website thing, I believe you could use the GBP URL (in whatever fashion they prefer) as the final URL on your Ads, but I don't think that will yield the best results - a website or landing page would be better, in my opinion.

Adwords Express is not completely gone; it has been rebranded and is now called "Smart Campaigns" within the Google Ads platform, meaning the functionality still exists, just under a different name. Create a search campaign, and add your location assets (the associated GBP(s)) to run ads on maps too - in Google Ads.

Just link your GBP with your Ads account. You can use the "Local store visits & promotions" objective when setting up the campaign - or not.

And, depending on your location, and whether you're in lead gen, want foot traffic, or ecommerce, you can also explore "in-store promotions" (or promotion assets) and "local inventory ads."

You should probably set up call assets too, using call tracking numbers (we recommend Callrail - sponsored - not Google's Call Forwarding) preferably, and use a call tracking number on your GBP too.

Thank you for the detailed answer, Chris.

I am planning to run two kinds of campaigns: one with the website and one with the GBP.
This is a locksmith business, and Google is restricting this type of service in Google Ads.

I can run the campaign with the website because the business has already passed advanced verification.
However, when I use the GBP link, the ads are not getting approved.

Do you know any way to solve this?
