Hi, I'm a Realtor using my hidden home address and using a service area instead on Google Business as well as GoDaddy for my website and domain, which I also have in Google Search Console with a sitemap. I continually take GoDaddy's suggestions for improving my SEO as well.

I have a total of 7 reviews on Google Business but never see my business listed in results, even though other Realtors in my area with far less reviews are showing up. The only difference that I can think of is that they have a business office address listed and I do not. I have asked about this before and I was told that having a visible physical address shouldn't change anything.

I try to do everything including taking Google Business suggestions. I had more than a few "sub categories" but recently switched to just ONE as real estate agent, primary, because every time I take Google Business suggestions, it automatically deletes the rest - such as Real Estate Agency, Commercial Real Estate Agency, Real Estate Consultant, etcetera. So fine, I settle with that. I also routinely, sometimes everyday or every other day at minimum, provide updates and upload pictures too! It doesn't seem to matter though in regards to my profile's ranking.

According to GMB's performance statistics, from February 2023-March 2023 my business has accrued 6 interactions and 106 views. According to GoDaddy my website has had 347 visitors throughout the last 30 days, and GoDaddy also claims that I've had 123 "social views" throughout the last 30 days as well (the only social account I have linked to GoDaddy is GMB.)

Any suggestions that the crowd may have I am all ears to listen and consider. Thanks.

There are a lot more to GBP rankings than reviews. You need to order citations from either Whitespark or Brightlocal. I would move away from Godaddy and switch to Wix. There are countless issues with your website like missing alt image tags, no rel canonical, and more. Your website is missing the content in the source code, no wonder you are not ranking at all. Please don't listen to Godaddy's ranking advice as they are not reliable at all. They are the worst CMS and hosting provider on the planet. They have a bad reputation in the SEO community. Every time I come across a WordPress website that is hacked, it's hosted by Godaddy. I highly recommend that you hire a professional to assist you as you have a lot of...

Here's the issue though - plenty of business rank from GMB alone that don't have a website at all. Exclude my website for a moment and focus on the GMB profile as a whole.

Can you elaborate on how I should be adding a citation? I've already included my name, brokerage name, telephone, email, city, and service area clearly on my home page.

However none of this has anything to do with my GMB. A website is not a requirement to have a successful GMB. Two separate entities.

Your website is a major contributing factor and is hurting your GPB rankings. Having an under optimised website hurts your local rankings. The fact that other realtors rank without having a website is because they don’t have a website hurt their rankings.

When I said citations, I mean Facebook, Yelp, Yahoo, Bing. Your name on Bing doesn’t match your GBP, your name and phone number on Facebook don’t match either.

You should hire somebody or a company that specialises in Local SEO and web design. You need a professional.

I don't have a facebook, nor do I have any interest in social media. I'd also delete Yelp if I can, but they are an absolutely toxic place that doesn't allow such activity amongst many other atrocious traits.

I removed my business from Bing search console after a brief stint trying it out - I didn't like it so removed my location and haven't logged in for months now. It seemed dead to me to list on Bing and was yet another thing to have to continually post on nonsensically.

I also haven't had a facebook listing in years. What are you seeing?

My old facebook hasn't existed in years. Where are you seeing a phone number on facebook?

I ran a citation scan using Yext. That is how I found the issues. I am advising you what you need to do rank and gain visibility in your market. You remind me of this parable. This will be my last reply to you. I wish you the best of luck.

Yext must be inaccurate if it is telling you things that simply do not exist. I provided a citation to my claim with the old facebook page link (which has nothing as proven.)

I gave you advice on what is needed. Setup citations, you said you don't use Facebook and don't like Yelp and Bing. I recommend that you switch CMS from Godaddy to Wix. I recommended that you hire a professional company because there are great companies that can assist you and get you to rank on maps.

What advice you are wanting here?

I wouldn't say you've really made people to want to chime in on this thread. :)
What are your suggestions? I've been members of countless forums involving automotive, electronics, HVAC, electrical, and DIY for the last 25+ years. Typically the purpose of a forum is for individuals to share opinions, experience, tips, and tricks of the trade for their fellow peers to utilize in their own projects. Do you have anything to share?

Please don't take my comments the wrong way - but I'm getting the strange suspicion that this forum is more of a "honeypot" to sell paid SEO services rather than a tool for learning and working on one's own website or Google Business profile. Prove me wrong, I guess! 😁

Do you have any statistics that show that having a Facebook profile is prerequisite to ranking well on Google Business? If anything the statistics I have seen show users leaving Facebook/Meta in droves and their stock share price appears to reflect that as well.

@Anonymous_Dude You were given some suggestions from a seasoned pro but seem to prefer disputing his advice. As he mentioned, there are a TON of things that go into ranking on Google, which is why most folks hire a pro.

If you really want to make a meaningful effort at doing it yourself, I would suggest you do a lot of reading first (this forum is much more geared to asking specific questions). Try BrightLocal and Whitespark for starters, they both have excellent blog articles and learning resources to help you get started.

Thanks - I'll have a look!

This forum is not meant for selling services and nobody that has replied to you has said hire me or use my services. I recommend that you hire a professional because you stated that followed GoDaddy advice to a T. Well they don’t know SEO or Local SEO, which is proven by fact that you don’t rank and can’t be found online. I told you to jump and should have said how high. Instead you ask me why you need to jump in the first place and what benefit you will get from it or how it’s evil to jump. If you want to do it on your own, you are able to do so as it’s your business. SEO is a marathon and not a sprint, but you need to be wearing the correct shoes, need to be conditioned, and be on the right track. Your website is a mess, you had two business profiles and deleted one of them. You can’t remember what address you used to verify your business profile and you want to rank. This is precisely why I recommend that hire a professional. I can read a book about engine repair, but I know that it’s better if I take my car to the mechanic. Your website is a Maserati in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic and I am wanting to move you over the autobahn.

At the end of the day, it’s your business and livelihood. Take my advice, don’t take my advice, that’s on you. I’ve built my brand and earned my reputation by learning, doing, and teaching others. I troubleshoot and triage complex local ranking issues on a daily basis. You don’t know me from Adam, but your replies weren’t respectful in the least bit to the point that I wouldn’t take you on as a client. I would take on one of your competitors out of spite because that’s how I roll. I know a few agencies and vendors that would turn you away based on this thread. Here is the last of my free advice. You have a unique name and this forum and various Google help forums populate when searching for your full name. If a potential client looks you up, do you think that they will hire you to sell their house after seeing your comments? You see I looked you up as I was doing my research before I replied to your thread. I looked up your business name, and checked your website source code prior to me answering your initial question. After seeing your Google help forum comments and post, I decided that you need a professional. You may need an Online Reputation firm in the near future as well.
