re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

It's too bad they don't parse the ratings and display them in the "Reviews from around the web" section.

Thanks David!

And that's just less than 3 hours post launch. Sure glad I thought to ask my host to increase my bandwidth last night. :p

There is still LOTS to come, I have not even had time to post yet and many are just starting to hear the news.

Thanks so much for helping me hold down the fort today!

I never found Insights data to be inaccurate, just very limited.

re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

The one GRRR... I have about this update is that...

Obviously I'm going to have to rebrand my site and forum everywhere it says G+ L or Google Places.

Worse yet, I need to tear apart my training and start over. So much has changed since I created the Oct training. So need to redo it all which is a one+ month long project, as busy as I am these days!

re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

I don't think so Linda. Google My Business is just the name for the dashboard. Google+ Local is still this:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/local/ and will probably always will be.

Sharing other blog posts and news stories as I find them!

See: Related Posts Bottom of the 1st post.

But I'm seriously running around like crazy answering Qs everywhere so have not even had time to check my RSS feed yet. I'll add more after I get caught up.

Yep. Its kind of hit and miss.

Mike just posted so I added it above.

FEEDLY has been broken for me all day. What a time to have a borked feedreader!

re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

Yes Feedly is down for me too.

re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

Got so excited I even whipped up a gif last night. LOL. :p

Tells the story, no?

Admittedly I'm no artist but was under NDA, so could not contract it out. :p

Nice GIF, Linda!

But I doubt we've seen the last of our old buddy Confusion. In the 5 years I've been doing this, Google has renamed "local" 4 times. So by September of 2015, we'll be about due for another rebranding :)

They better wait at least 2 years!

I have over a month of site content and training to re-do.
And I'm largely out of business until I get my training revamped.

So no more rebranding or major changes for awhile please!

Wow! What news! Thanks for creating this thread, Linda.

Re: what Darren said earlier: in terms of terminology, has "Google My Business" replaced what we were calling the "Google And Your Business" dashboard? But, the end product is still a Google+ Local page?

I'm big on names! What do you guys think? What = what now?

Yes you've got it Miriam.

This launch rebranded the back end business-owner-facing product/dashboard to GMB.

Google has not said much about the consumer facing product except to say it has not changed - in display or anything. So I assume it's still G+ Local. But as more consumers start hearing about this or businesses start calling it "My Business" things could get muddy again.

re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

Thanks for the lighting-fast reply, Linda (you superwoman!) :)

Yep, can see how terminology may become more confusing as a result of this. Pretty exciting stuff, though!

re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

Still seeing a lot of accounts with the old style places dashboard. Anyone else?

re: Google "My Business" Launches! Goodbye Places for Business! HUGE Google Update!

Good to know Colan. So far I'm just hearing reports when folks get upgraded so had not heard anyone talking about not being yet. Seemed to be it was moving a long at a pretty good clip.
