Looks like Google is finally getting (somewhat) serious about fighting Local Listings Spam.
This was a sloppy perpetrator, so it was easy to catch. Google posted the lawsuit filing on their blog against the LA based operator who created 350 fake businesses and had over 14,000 fake reviews written on those listings (all of them originating from Bangladesh and Vietnam).
Will they continue using such hard hitting tactics to shut spam down?
Would they also file lawsuits against the legitimate businesses who use incentives for soliciting reviews, which is not as egregious of a violation as outright spam?
New advertising option:
A review of your product or service posted by a Sterling Sky employee. This will also be shared on the Sterling Sky & LSF Twitter accounts, our Facebook group, LinkedIn, and both newsletters.
