Legal Services Rankings Tanked After Potential Update - Solutions? What Did You Do?

According to Bright Local there were a lot of fluctuations in legal services on September 3rd. A potential algorithm update.
Since then, one of our client's rankings have tanked. They were in the top 3 for most of their keywords and since then they have dropped to the second page and beyond.
We are following all SEO best practises and our competitors who are now in the top 3 seem to be following the same SEO strategy/implementation.

Can you suggest any fixes for this? Has this happened to you before? Do it rebound? How long did it take?
Any advice would be helpful.

The tracking tools are still going insane, some are higher today than they were yesterday or the day before. I am even seeing tools in the local space show bigger fluctuations now. But the chatter, again, seems mostly around the tools and not about their own rankings or client rankings going up...

If it's a lawyer there is a good chance that they are getting filtered if lots of attorneys are also in the same building. It's really hard to say without knowing specifics.
