What Causes Random Reverification of GMB Listing?

I've been working with a particular client of mine for 6+ years and everything has been going along just fine as far as their GMB page is concerned. Today when I went to publish a Google Post for them there was a big notice at the top of the page that the listing had to be reverified. Any idea what triggered this? Does Google randomly do this or is something else going on?

Google will sometimes put certain high spam risk categories on higher alert so that any change to the listing will trigger a verification.
