Google Gives The Cannabis Industry a Category :)

Logged into a clients GMB and saw they crossed out the old category, alternative medicine practitioner, and added this one, Cannabis store. How do you find out when Google does this stuff?

Question is, why did they only add Cannabis Store? Don't they know the industry is of two parts, medical and recreational?

It should have been done for users at least.

I'm curious if they added that category why not add them all for all sub niches in this industry?

I'm excited to see progress in any case.

I looked at the list I have for categories pulled from the GMB API and it lists cannabis store so I know it has to have been there since January. It wasn't there last year from my knowledge because I had a client in this industry and she had to pick some other obscure category for her business.

I don't think Google announces when they add categories, unfortunately. The only real way to get a list of them all is via the API.
