Hello all,

Questions -- 1) does anyone have experience with Open Street Map and 2) do edits in OSM actually show up on navigation/ride share apps?

My employer expanded a hospital and added a new ER on a totally different street. We're having multiple issues due to the section of road in front of the new ER having been closed for construction for over a year and the old ER having been there for decades. In OSM, I've edited the road to show that it is open and made some other little enhancements. I've relocated the old ER pin to the new location and modified the name so that it matches our Google listing. I've also added another pin for the actual entrance location. Birdeye hasn't yet been able to get the new listing added into the dashboard to promote it, but we're working with them. Uber and Lyft are taking riders to the wrong location and there isn't a pick up POI at the new ER. So, to sum up, it's a lot of issues that I'm wondering if my efforts in OSM would help with.

Looking forward to hearing if anyone has feedback based on experience.

Thank you -- respectfully,
Gabor

Hey there,

I have never even heard of OpenStreetMap before this, so I can't be much help on that front, but I would venture anything on OSM is likely ignored by Google. Google has spent a mountain of time and money on their own internal map system, and they will use that over everything. They likely do not reference or care about what other map systems say.

As for Uber and Lyft, from what I know they too have their own internal map systems (though drivers often use Google Maps and Waze too) so I would think you need to reach out to their support teams to get the map pin fixed in their systems, as those systems are not publicly available.

To confirm, the map pin for the new ER is correct on Google?
