Problem with removing local business account

Hello all, I am trying to help someone delete his GMB. His profile is showing on google but when I log into the GMB it is not showing that he has an active account so this is a mystery, what can we do to remove his profile and listing from the net please?

Claim it and marked it as permanently closed.

I tried a second time yesterday evening and THEN I was able to get it done via the "suggest an edit" feature on the Profile page, thanks.
